Steve Young - Pro, Football
Steve Young had the near impossible task of succeeding Joe Montana as the starting QB of the San Francisco 49ers. But succeed he did. He was the starting QB for the 49'ers from 1991-1999.
Selected the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1992 and 1994, Young was also named the Super Bowl XXIX MVP after passing for a Super Bowl record six touchdowns.
A BYU graduate, Steve was a left-handed quarterback, a rarity among NFL QB's.
But football wasn't always easy for Young. He says, "In school, I was always the kid in the back row, twirling his hair with his fingers and scared to death. Scared to death. You take that kid and make him quarterback, and he would have thrown up before every game until college -- which is what happened."
Young plowed through his anxiety and acheived success in both college and professional ball.
